Pet Grass at Local Micros: A Natural Delight for Your Pets
Our “Pet grass” is an equal mix of Wheatgrass, Barley, Oat and Rye seeds. The seeds germinate at different times creating a product that is able to be enjoyed within your home longer. Whether you have a curious cat, a playful dog, or a small pet like a rabbit, pet grass offers numerous benefits:
Digestive Health: Pet grass is known to aid digestion by providing natural fiber, which helps to prevent hairballs in cats and supports regular bowel movements in other pets.
Nutrient-Rich: Pet grass contains small amounts of vitamins and minerals that may support your pet's overall health. While not a primary food source, it can complement their diet by providing additional nutrients that promote a healthy coat and aid digestion.
Natural Instincts: Many pets have a natural instinct to nibble on grass. Providing them with pet grass satisfies this instinct in a safe, controlled environment, reducing the risk of them eating harmful outdoor plants or grass that has been sprayed with pesticides or other chemicals.
We take pride in offering the highest quality pet grass to our customers.
Grown with Care: Our pet grass is grown in a devoted clean grow area area tuned with a target of 75F and below 45% Humidity. We use the same grow area as our microgreens to produce the best pet grass possible with RO Water, and Coco-Coir growing medium.
Quality Checks: From seed to harvest, we check the quality of our crops at least twice a day while manually watering.
Freshness: If not overwatered, can last about 15 days after delivered within 4 days after planting the seed. Each 5x5 requires 1/8 cup of water twice a day. Always water from the bottom so the roots can ingest the water keeping the base of the grass dry.
Why Local Micros Pet Grass is Superior
We recently (8/24) purchased pet grass from a local store to compare it with our own product.
Vibrant Green vs. Yellowing: Our pet grass maintains a lush, vibrant green color. In contrast, the store-bought grass appeared yellowed and lacked the same vitality, reflecting lower quality and less care in its lifecycle. It’s uncommon to find fresh Pet Grass in a grocery or pet store. More than likely the store-bought grass was over two weeks old and the roots were dead from lack of care and daily watering.
Longer Shelf Life: Since care is taken throughout the grow before delivered your pet and you can enjoy a longer shelf life. Trim down the grass after ~10 days for another week of enjoyment. Only bottom water for the best results. Make sure not to overwater. A 5x5” requires an1/8th cup or two of water a day. Make sure to throw away when the root structure dies and starts to turn brown or will start to mold.
